1. Is the HemoBand™ a tourniquet?
A. No. The HemoBand™ does go around the arm, but because of the wide band design, unless excessive pressure is used, it does not act as a tourniquet.

2. How long do you leave the HemoBand™ in place?
A. Check with your facility's treatment protocols for specific treatment guidelines. Typically the HemoBand™ is left in place for five to ten minutes, the typical time used for holding the needle site. It may be left on for an additional five to ten minutes if needed. The arm and hand must be checked to assure normal perfusion distal to the HemoBand™. You should also check and make sure that the graft is patent by documentation of a bruit in the graft.

3. How long and how many HemoBands™ have been used?
A. The HemoBand™ has been in use for over ten years. During that time close to a million applications have been utilized to control bleeding following needle removal after hemodialysis or radial artery approach procedures.

4. How secure is the HemoBand™ after it is placed on the patient's arm?
A. Most patients can have limited activity, including bathroom privileges or moving to a more comfortable chair with observation.

5. Does the HemoBand™ hurt the patient?
A. For the most part, the HemoBand™ is very comfortable for the patient. Occasionally, a small fold of skin can get pinched. This is easily corrected by readjusting the band.
